Hello and welcome to The Casa Collective!
We are so excited to “open the doors,” so to speak, to our brand new blog. If you were a reader of The Decorating Files, thank you so much for following me over the years. It was an amazing experience writing that blog and sharing the things that inspired me, but I realized it was time to take things to the next level. To do that, I wanted a completely fresh start.
Have you ever looked at a room on Pinterest that you fell in love with, but had no idea how to translate that to your own home? Did you wonder if it was even possible? Maybe you’ve tried to copy what you see in these gorgeous spaces but for some reason, it never looks the same. This can be so frustrating and leaves a lot of homeowners feeling like they just don’t have “the eye” for design.
But not everyone has the room in their budget for an interior designer to help them fill in the blanks, so what happens is they often end up with a home that is “half” decorated or not decorated at all.
Can you relate to this scenario? Many people can.
That’s why one of my favorite things to do is show people how to decorate their homes. While it’s a lot of fun to look at inspiring rooms (and definitely an important part of the decorating process), the real magic happens when you are able to bring what you love about them to life in your own space.
The Casa Collective is an interior decorating and organizing blog fueled by the idea that a beautiful home doesn’t have to be something you only dream about while looking at photos on the internet. It can be accessible to everyone ─ all you need is the knowledge of some simple but powerful design principles.
And we want to not only inspire you, but teach you how you can turn that inspiration into a reality.
Why I Started This Blog
In 2012, I launched The Decorating Files, a blog that focused on inspiring people with beautiful interiors, as well as some tips on decorating and organizing your home. During this journey, I met so many great readers that were inspired by what I was posting. However, I saw the same questions come in over and over again ─ how do I make my home look like the professionally designed rooms in the photographs?
I offered a lot of decorating tips, but the information was scattered throughout the blog. Teaching the elements of design has always been something I’ve been impassioned by, but I wasn’t sure how to do that effectively with the blog structure I had at the time. It had grown a life of its own and, as I said, the information was scattered across the blog, sometimes hidden in various posts. It wasn’t easy to follow if someone wanted to start from scratch. That’s when I had a lightbulb moment ─ I wanted to create a resource with the sole purpose of walking people through how to decorate and organize their own homes, regardless of their decorating experience, skill level or budget.
And so The Casa Collective was born!
